DuPage County Prepares SNAP Response
More than 67,000 DuPage residents impacted by halt in federal food program
Wheaton – DuPage County is taking steps to assist residents in response to the planned halt in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding for 42 million Americans during the federal government shutdown. Beginning on Nov. 1, more than 67,000 DuPage County residents who rely on SNAP to buy groceries could be affected.
“We want DuPage residents to know we have staff standing by 24/7 to help people in need during these uncertain times,” said County Board Chair Deborah Conroy. “People can dial 211 or visit 211DuPage.gov to locate food pantries and programs in their community. In addition to directing residents to food pantries, 211 staff can also help residents who need assistance paying rent or their energy bills. Those wishing to donate or volunteer at a food pantry can contact Giving DuPage (www.givingdupage.org) to get connected to a local organization.”
SNAP recipients may connect directly with area provider partners who offer food assistance and other services, including the following:

FIND COMMUNITY
We are the Christian Church of Villa Park called to embody God’s love – a love that embraces, liberates, and empowers – in relationships with all we encounter, whoever they are and wherever they find themselves on their journey of faith. We work to build community, to be in relationship with one another through the Spirit. We seek to do the work to which we are called with compassion, creating a space for all to share the radical welcome that we have received through Christ. We strive to answer God’s call to build community inside and outside our walls, being “imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us.” (Eph. 5:1-2)
