Week of Compassion
Week of Compassion is more than a week. Week of Compassion is a ministry of the whole Church, serving vulnerable communities throughout the world. Any time and anywhere we respond to a need, we bear witness to the unity of the Lord's Table, faithfully sharing the gifts that we have received as an expression of Christ's love. As we work with partners, we represent the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) commitment to unity, allowing our resources and responses to reach farther, growing our impact on a global scale.

Costa Rica
Mission Trip
Dan and Doris Carter and Raja and Minni Philip will be going on a mission trip to Costa Rica June 13 – June 23, 2026, along with members of the First Church of Lombard, to build 2 houses to provide safe, dry, and comfortable homes for families currently living in shacks with dirt floors, no doors or windows and leaky roofs. The mission team will be working with Mercy Homes Ministries, an organization which has built over 240 houses in Costa Rica in the past 15 years with the help of volunteers.
In order to be able to build the 2 homes, the mission team must raise $24,000 to cover the cost of materials and supplies and some local labor. $12,000 has been raised so far. Please consider making a contribution to help the team meet this goal. (All of the mission team members pay for their own travel and living expenses, so all of contributions are solely for materials and labor for building the homes.) Meeting the fundraising goal would mean that the lives of 2 families will be transformed as they move from their dirt-floor shacks to simple, dry, secure homes in which to raise their children.
Contributions can be made by a check payable to Christian Church of Villa Park noting “Costa Rica” in the memo line, or you make an online contribution with the link below.
It would be helpful for contributions to be received by April 5.

FIND COMMUNITY
We are the Christian Church of Villa Park called to embody God’s love – a love that embraces, liberates, and empowers – in relationships with all we encounter, whoever they are and wherever they find themselves on their journey of faith. We work to build community, to be in relationship with one another through the Spirit. We seek to do the work to which we are called with compassion, creating a space for all to share the radical welcome that we have received through Christ. We strive to answer God’s call to build community inside and outside our walls, being “imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us.” (Eph. 5:1-2)
